I am Wosene Worku. I graduated
with B.A degree in economics from Bahir
Dar University.
Compassion’s support made it possible for me to complete my studies, elementary
through University. Different learning materials were supplied; and my social,
physical and spiritual needs were fulfilled when I joined a CDSP program in a
project. I began learning God’s word in Sunday school and I served in Sunday
school choir. The time I spent in project was very exciting and it established
a base for my life. The cause of my success was not just my personal effort. It
was the result of the many people around me who offered me their counsel at
different times. Above all, God has given me a wise mother who taught me and
encouraged me practice Godly ethical values in my life. Project workers and
Sunday school teachers have also impacted my life. When in Sunday school, I
learned to put my trust in God and knew that it is possible to be saved by
calling upon the name of God. As the bible says in psalm 91: 14-16
“Because he has
set his love upon me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high,
because he has known my name. He shall call up on me, and I will answer him; I
will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I
will satisfy him. And show him my salivation.”
The time I had in LDP was really
exciting. I benefited a lot from the program, for example, most of my expenses
were completely covered; beyond these, the trainings I got were very valuable. I
feel I am important and mature enough to lead. I understood I have
responsibility to serve my family, my church, and my country as well as to
bring about the desired changes. It was also a nice opportunity to develop my
social skills through the interactions I had with the other LDP students.
I don’t forget the role played by
my sponsor throughout my school life. In my opinion, sponsorship doesn’t mean
only providing money or something for somebody. It includes specifying reason for sponsorship and evaluating the changes
by the sponsorship. My sponsors were with me in that way. They really have a
part in my life. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to them. I am
mature and in a position to help another person. “Your sponsorship has a sweet
fruit. In my opinion, your sponsorship is not only from your compassionate
heart, it is also a gift or a grace of God. God bless you and your family.”
I have short and long term plans.
Working with profession, helping my family and having my second degree are
short term plans, while working toward eradication of poverty from Ethiopia is in
my long term plan. I will take the initiative to help the orphans and street
children besides carrying out other duties and responsibilities and empowering
the communities to fight poverty. Do pray for me that the Lord’s guidance is
always there with me.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to all of you
who were involved in my life in one way or the other.
